Upcoming projects

  • Currently directing an adaptation of Calderón’s Life is a Dream for the National Theatre of Malta, Teatru Malta

  • Mainstage Show in 2028 for Pitlochry Festival Theatre

  • Shows Currently in Development for The Finborough Theatre, The English Theatre of Barcelona, The National Theatre of Malta

  • "André Agius 'is one to watch' "

    Fergus Morgan, The Stage

  • “André Agius has created a production that is, not surprisingly, action-packed and fast-paced. He brings out the humour, the conflicts and the tragedy. The cast respond to this with sincerity and the real-life issues become increasingly absorbing."

    Richard Beck, Broadway Baby

  • “Impromptu was a gloriously funny piece of work and André kept the tone light and the physicality fun and farcical. A gorgeous confection of a show.”

Rosie Kellagher, National Theatre of Scotland - The Impromptu at Impromptu at Òran Mór

  • "This deterioration of the civilised front is central to the play, and Agius nails it. His direction includes very simple staging that cleverly placed the focus entirely on the actors. The effect is of four tigers, barely restrained in a cage. Delicious, brutal and 100% effective satire."

The Times of Malta, God of Carnage 2024.

  • "André Agius’ direction is clearly paramount. He has created a powerful production, extremely provocative in its nature but is that not the point of art?"

Mikey J Tucker, Frances Fowler Poetry

  • “I can’t say I have any critical points for this production. The actors were spectacular, the translation was beautiful and the direction was excellent. [...] Truly a masterpiece.”

Tpespis Art Reviews, The Hot House 2018

  • “It’s wonderful to see a young director like André Agius make such a noteworthy debut under the company’s banner. Skylight is, by no means, a safe or easy choice for a first-time director. This is the kind of theatre Malta desperately needs."

    Times of Malta, Skylight
